If you're going to have a successful Instagram account, then followers are going to be an important part of it. But how do you get them? If only there was a way to see when your followers were most active...

Well, now there is. In this guide, We'll teach you how to find out what time the majority of your Instagram followers are active. The more followers you have, the more useful this will be for you as you'll discover what times your current and potential new followers like to browse Instagram.

First of all, let's take a look at the analytics section within the app:

Click on 'Your Profile'. If we click on 'Insights' we can see that we can see our post history and activity.

You can also click on 'Photos' to see when your posts received the most likes, comments and shares: This will show you what time of day is best for when you publish new content.

But we want to know more than this - we want to know what times are best for all Instagram activity. To do this, we need to go back to the Insights page.

When you are on the insights page you should click on 'Total followers' to see the statistics. In Total followers page you will find several information about your followers such as: the number of followers you currently have, where your followers come from (top locations), age range, gender and lastly the most active times.

Scroll down a little bit to get this last information.

Why is Important to Know When Your Followers Are Most Active?

  1. This is useful to see how many followers you have in each time of day. If you like to be online during certain times, this is a great way to track when the most people are active on Instagram.
  2. You can compare your follower activity to days of the week or months of the year (overlapping circles) to see how your follower count is distributed.

For example, if you wanted to be online around lunch time but we can see from the graph we don't have many followers at that time, you might want to think about when else in the day it might be best for us to post our content:

If we decided that 1pm was when our followers like to be online, then that means we could post our content at 1pm instead of lunch time.

Unfortunately, this information isn't available to everyone... yet! Instagram has recently allowed all users to see how many people view your posts. But they haven't yet made this sort of data available to everyone, which is why you won't be able to see the times your followers are most active. But hopefully it'll be released in an update soon!

Until then... make the best of what you have by understanding how your followers think and behave. This is a great way to improve your Instagram marketing strategy.
